Hey Everyone, I have 3 quick points! But first, thank you for being a part of this with me. You all have been a great encouragement to me and you are doing wonderful things for the Kingdom of God just by speaking your kind words.

SPONSORSHIP - I still need sponsors! Let me know if you can commit to donating just 50 cents a day and sponsoring me on my 8-month trip back to Nicaragua. go to www.evandixon.com/donate to register.

COMPUTERS - I can fix em’. I can build em’. I can teach you how to use em’. Anything technology related, I’m your guy, and if not, I know where to point you. Let me know if you need anything, I can help you, and you can help me :)

PHOTOGRAPHY - You may have seen me with my monstrous camera - yes, I am a photographer. If you have kids that play sports, I can get action shots of them playing that you will never get with your Point and Shoot. I would be more than happy to come take pictures for any event.
You can see some of my stuff here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/epdixon/sets/

All of this stuff is a way for me to support myself on my trip to Nicaragua, and in the meantime, while I am here in the States.

Don’t just sponsor me - let me work for it. If you have any job you think I may be ble to do, give me a call, from assembling an entertainment center to mowing your yard.

God Bless, and thanks for reading,

///////////////// My Summer (May 17-August 1, 2009) /////////////////

My summer in Nicaragua was life-changing. It was nothing like what I expected. I went down there with all these plans to do all these things, and like I said to my church one Sunday, God’s plan was to jerk a knot in my butt, in the spiritual sense. I really realized a lot of things I wasn’t giving the Lord dominion over in my life. I had made Jesus my savior, accepted what he did for me on the cross, but I hadn’t made him my Lord, I hadn’t given him complete and total control of my life.

All summer, the Lord kept chiseling away at the old Evan, showing me ting after thing in my life he wanted me to give to Him. I began to realize that the summer was less about me doing anything for the people in our village, and more about the Lord bringing me to a place where he could truly do a great work in me. And that, he did, and is still doing.

////////////////////// MY FUTURE PLANS //////////////////////

After much prayer and discussion, I am planning to take Spring semester off from UNCC and return to Nicaragua. This means leaving sometime shortly after Christmas and returning in May, or possibly as late as August.

/////////////////// WHAT I WANT FROM YOU ///////////////////

First, I want an opportunity. I want an opportunity to share with you what the Lord is doing. If you would like for me to come talk to you, your family, your Sunday school class, your small group, your baseball team, your church - your ANYTHING, please ask. I

Second, I want your money. If you’ve read this far, obviously you have some sort of interest in what i’m doing, and I am very grateful for that. I have felt the call to go back to Nicaragua for a longer length of time. God is using New Song Mission Nicaragua to do amazing things for his Kingdom, and he is calling me to be a part of it.

You can help me by…

/////////////// committing to sponsor me for $15/month ///////////////

Starting in November. The concept behind this is 50 cents a day, less than they charge to add cheese to your burger at most places. This is an amount I know most families can afford, and it will actually benefit me more to have a bigger number of small sponsors than a smaller number of big sponsors, for several reasons. First, with this economic situation, if I have 30 sponsors, and a family can’t afford to send in their money one month, it’s not going to kill me. Second, the more sponsors I have, the more people that have personal involvement with what I’m doing, and I like that. I will be sending out monthly updates and pictures (in the mail) to anyone and everyone who decides to sponsor me.

/////////////////// If $15 isn’t right for you ///////////////////

Send less, send more. Doesn’t make any difference to me. Do what you can. I will love you the same, i promise :)

/////////////////// HOW TO SIGN UP ///////////////////

For now, if you are interested, just shoot me an email at evan@evandixon.com. Include your preferred email address, mailing address, telephone number, and a general idea of how much you would be willing to support me with on a monthly basis.

Love you guys, and thank you for reading.

Hello readers. I’ve been back home now for a little over a week. My experience this summer was one I will never forget, and it wouldn’t have been possible without all of those who supported me through prayer and finances. I am eternally grateful for your support, and I hope you will continue to be interested in my missions in the future.

Please stay tuned for more information regarding another trip to Nicaragua in the near future. God has laid it on my heart to return for even longer, and I am in the processes of planning a 6-8 month trip beginning as early as late December 2009.

I will be looking for one-time and monthly sponsorships from interested people. Because I do not know how long I will be staying, a monthly sponsorship of $20, $50, or $100 would be a huge blessing.If you are interested in contributing in any way, please dont hesitate to call or email me, or come by the house and talk.

Please continue to keep me in your prayers. God has done a marvelous work in me, and I want to stay on fire with the Holy Spirit and maintain the momentum he has given me over the past few months.

God bless you all!

Our group took a couple days off and went to the beach just outside Leon in Las Penitas. We spent the night there, enjoying God’s wonderful creation.

June 20, 2009

Today we had a “Field Day” for all the kids in the village. It was a spur of the moment idea of one of our team members, and it turned out to be a hit. You can see from the pictures that the kids enjoyed it very much.

Hello Everyone!

The power supply died on my laptop last week, so until today I hadn’t been able to post until I found out Linda’s power supply worked with my laptop. Praise God for that!

Since my last update, lots has happened. The group of 6 from Adventures in Missions has been here for about 2 weeks now and we have really gotten to know each other. We have 5 girls and one guy. Josh, the photographer and videographer for the group, is 25, originally from Uruguay where is parents were missionaries, moved from their when he was 5. He has lived all over but now lives in Dallas, TX. He is staying in the Youth House with Diego and I, so we’ve hit it off pretty well. Katie is 20 and from Wisconsin. She enjoys children and wants to be involved in children’s ministry here.  Lindsay is 19 and from California. She is a student at Berkley, speaks Spanish, loves music, plays all kinds of instruments, and was an Olympic hopeful snowboarder. Liz is 19, from Michigan, and is also a talented musician. Rebekah is 21, from Birmingham, Alabama, just graduated from UAB with a major in Spanish. Caitlin, 24, is the leader of the group, and the only one who has been here prior to this trip. It has been real fun hanging out with them and ministering with them.

Another large group of 18 came down last week from Georgia called Book of Hope. They evangelize in schools using dramas and movies, and came to Candelaria and worked with our kids a few times.

If you see people in pictures you don’t recognize, its probably someone from AIM or Book of Hope.

I have been attending leadership training with Tommy over the past few weeks, which has really been helpful in my spiritual walk thus far. We have been going through Romans 5 little by little, trying to learn it well enough to reteach it. I was able to use some of what I had learned in the first lesson in a conversation with an older woman and encourage her with it. This past week, Tommy emphasized the importance of getting in to God’s word daily for everyone, especially leaders. At that encouragement, our group has started a morning bible study time where we read a chapter and discuss it for about 1-2 hours each day. We are working our way through 1 and 2 Peter right now. This has been a blessing to be able to have a small group experience with other people my age right here in Candelaria.

As you may know, last Saturday I got a bit of an ear infection, and it is still with me, but has improved significantly. I saw the doctor yesterday and he said the infection is gone, just some fluid in my ear that needs to dry up. Thankfully I’ve been sleeping well and not had a whole lot of pain, so it has been bearable. Thank you all for your prayers.

That’s all I can think of for now, hope to post again soon.

God Bless you all!

Evan “Oso” Dixon
