Thank you to everyone who attended the service and/or made a contribution today to my mission. Your support and kind words were overwhelming, and I must say I feel very lucky to have the church family that I do. I am excited to have *officially* kicked off my journey. Please continue to check in here for updates, and I will do my best to let you all know about any progress I am making.
The verse I talked about today applies more than ever:
In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps - Proverbs 16:9
It’s official, i’m Nicaragua bound for the summer of 2009. I purchased my plane ticket a few weeks back for May 17 to August 1. If you don’t already know, I am planning to be a missionary this summer in a rural village our church has adopted in Nicaragua. I will be speaking at both services Sunday, March 29, and my church is taking up a love offering to help me pay for my trip. If you can make it, please come and support me.
The 8:30am service is contemporary and the 11:00am service is traditional. I will speak at both services, so you are welcome to come to either!
heard this song somewhere the other day and I really liked it. Lyrics below.
Just because I’m losing
Doesn’t mean I’m lost
Doesn’t mean I’ll stop
Doesn’t mean I’m in a cross
Just because I’m hurting
Doesn’t mean I’m hurt
Doesn’t mean I didn’t get what I deserve
No better and no worse
I just got lost
Every river that I’ve tried to cross
And every door I ever tried was locked
Ooh-Oh, And I’m just waiting till the shine wears off…
You might be a big fish
In a little pond
Doesn’t mean you’ve won
‘Cause along may come
A bigger one
And you’ll be lost
Every river that you try to cross
Every gun you ever held went off
Ooh-Oh, And I’m just waiting till the firing stops
Ooh-Oh, And I’m just waiting till the shine wears off
Ooh-Oh, And I’m just waiting till the shine wears off
Ooh-Oh, And I’m just waiting till the shine wears off…
